The latest release from Pico Technology is a handy PC-based
instrument which is able to measure both relative humidity and temperature in one compact unit. It uses built-in sensors that are calibrated
to give highly accurate measurements. The RH-02 is very easy to
use: just plug into the serial port of your PC and you are ready
to take measurements with the supplied PicoLog software (DOS and
Windows 3.1, 95/98 and NT). The software is simple to use with
full online help, yet is full of useful features: users are able
to view graphs of the temperature and humidity simultaneously,
export data to a spreadsheet, print and save data and much more.
Alarm limits can be set to sound should the temperature or humidity
go out of a specified range. PicoLog can be used with any combination
of data loggers in the Pico range and hence it easily meets all
of the users requirements. The unit is also supplied with software
drivers for those who wish to write their own software.
This new unit will be particularly useful in applications such as horticulture (particularly in greenhouses), heating and ventilation systems installation and monitoring conditions of sensitive animals such as reptiles. The unit requires no power supply, so is ideal for engineers to use out in the field with their lap-top computer.
The RH-02 is capable of measuring temperatures from -40 to 70°C with accuracy of ±0.2°C (0 to 70°C) and relative humidity from 0 to 100% with accuracy of ±2% (5 to 95%). The unit retails for just £149 (+VAT), which represents good value for a complete measurement solution. Once again, Pico stick to their promise of quality measurement equipment at affordable prices.
